Being a part of the Franciscan Institute for Sciences and Health (FISH), under the guidance of Dr. Kuebler, has given me the opportunity to participate in meaningful bench research that coincides with my interest in medicine. Working in the lab this summer has allowed me to appreciate the great skills needed to carry out experiments and collect data. Under Dr. Kuebler’s mentorship, I learned to think more like a scientist. I questioned results, drew conclusions, and applied findings towards our research goals. As a researcher, the ability to contribute to a further understanding of a possible therapy, which may help suffering individuals, is incredibly rewarding.
