FIWH Program: Internship at AbbVie – Summer 2013

Future Plans: Graduate school for PhD in the sciences

Getting the opportunity to participate in the FIWH internship at AbbVie opened my eyes to a world of chemistry that I never knew about. Being able to design and synthesize my very own compounds which never existed was an incredible experience. However, the best part was that all the research I was doing had the ability to save the lives of millions of people suffering from Neglected Tropical Diseases. Not only was it an educational experience, but it was humanitarian as well! I now know I want to devote my life to designing new medicines to ease the suffering of millions of our brothers and sisters who are afflicted all over the world.
